Most of what makes the first semester hard is logistics, not content. Clear this list before day one and the first week gets much calmer. Your program's own requirements list always wins over this one.

Work through it in the weeks before orientation.

School requirements

Your program's list wins. This is the reminder layer.

Orientation date, time, and location confirmed
Tuition, payment plan, or financial aid finalized
Student portal, email, and learning platform logins work
Program handbook downloaded and skimmed
Required background check and drug screen submitted

Clinical requirements

These have long lead times. Start earliest.

Immunization records located and submitted
Titers, TB test, or boosters scheduled if required
CPR/BLS certification current and card uploaded
Health insurance documentation submitted if required
Physical exam completed if required

Schedule

Class, lab, and clinical times in one calendar
Commute plan for each location, with parking
Work schedule shared with employer, exam weeks flagged
Childcare or caregiving backup plan for clinical days
Two protected study blocks a day marked

Rule of thumb: anything with a deadline or a waiting period (records, certifications, screenings) comes first. Anything that costs money can usually wait until the syllabus says otherwise.
