Lecture-to-Practice Workflow

Rereading slides feels productive and fades in days. This routine converts every lecture into retrieval practice while it is still fresh. It takes about an hour total, split into short blocks.

Run it within 48 hours of every lecture.

Lecture / course

  1. Step 1

Capture (in class or same day)

Mark the 3 to 5 slides your professor slowed down on, repeated, or said would be tested. Those are your high-yield targets.

    High-yield topics from this lecture:

  2. Step 2

    Condense (15 minutes)

Close the slides. From memory, write what each target topic is, why it matters clinically, and what you would watch for in a patient. Open the slides only to check yourself.

Blanks I could not fill from memory:

  3. Step 3

    Convert (15 minutes)

Turn each target into practice. Write two questions per topic yourself, or upload the slide deck to a tool that builds questions from your own material. Answering beats rereading.

Questions written / practice set created for:

  4. Step 4

Test (20 minutes, within 48 hours)

Answer your questions cold, closed-book. Score honestly. Anything you miss goes on tomorrow's study block, not next week's.

    Missed items to re-test tomorrow:

  5. Step 5

    Space (5 minutes)

Schedule one re-test of this lecture 3 days out and one 10 days out. Two short revisits beat one long reread the night before the exam.

    Re-test dates on the planner:
